Melt. Risograph printed comic. 8x6.25 in, 16 pages.
In Beijing, I'd sometimes go looking for a place and then realize the building was demolished overnight, or had its doors and windows filled with cement by the city government. Urban changes in China are happening too quickly for most residents to properly internalize, and the constant tearing–apart of the urban landscape mirrors the way unresolved crushes and grudges continue to fester underneath the routines of everyday life. Melt captures a slice of Beijing's emotive and physical terrain as I saw it in early 2017, knowing that it would be entirely transformed by the time I'd have a chance to return.
